than they had anticipated and expected. we are at the old forum where the los angeles lakers used to play a little basketball back in the day before they moved. and you know, it gave an opportunity for thousands of people in the englewood area to come out and see the space shuttle. they had a marching band here. they've had music playing. 're still raising money. tonight in los angeles mr. obama will be joined by bill clinton at a fund-raiser, and the president continues to shatter records. he's nearly doubled the number of fund-raisers george bush held and has dwarfed his other predecessors. it's paid off. last month a new fund-raising record, $181 million in just 30 days. a total of 835 million breaking his own record of four years ago. mitt romney has raised at least $548 million, and here's what's remarkable, if both men had stayed in what's known as the public financing system in which they can't take huge donations but then get matching federal funds, they could have only each spent $135 million. that means the president has really raised six times what he would have been allowed if he had stayed in the public financing system. now, mitt romney is going to continue today to try and flip florida into his column. he has another appearance in port st. lucie a little bit later today. >> astonishing numbers, david, thank you. >>> we'll turn to the political showdown, not between presidential candidates, but rather

.. from new york.. to los angeles. along the way, he tells me he also learned a lesson.. ive come to know that america is a compassionate place when people are aware and when they know whats going on they rise to the occasion. over the months, brooks raised that awareness.. and raised money, a half million dollars so far, to build a community center across the street from his church on king drive. we have to keep all hands on deck and we have to constantly gang up on the problem and not gang up on each other. last winter, he made headlines not for walking.. but sitting... on top of the vacant hotel where that community center will go.. tyler perry gave 100-thousand dollars back then to help tear the building down... brooks says the walk has inspired others to give too.. we brought a lot of attention and a lot of awareness to the gun violence in chicago and we met a lot of compassionate people all across america its been really wonderful. his parisioners, whove gone without brooks on the pulpit the better part of this year, are inspired as well... phillona williams im excited and im ha
